St Columba’s Catholic College and the St Columba’s Art Prize acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land and waters on which we gather to work, learn, and celebrate; this is the country of the Dharug and Gundungurra people.
We pay our respects to Elders past and present, and we extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

What you need to know

Preparing your work for exhibition

To ensure a smooth installation process and a professional presentation of all artworks in the St Columba’s Art Prize, artists must follow the preparation guidelines below. Works that do not comply with these requirements may not be accepted for exhibition.

Please read the following information carefully before delivering your artwork.

Presentation requirements for 2D hanging works

All artworks must be presented and ready for display.

  • Works on paper, including student works, must be framed unless discussed
    with the organiser.
  • Canvas works may be framed or presented on a stretched gallery canvas.
  • All works must be stable, secure, and suitable for gallery hanging systems.

The organisers reserve the right to decline works that are not suitably prepared for exhibition.

Labelling Your Artwork – 2D & 3D works

Attach a label to the back or base of the artwork (in the case of 3D works) including:

  • Artist name

  • Artwork title

  • If there is any discrepancy between the label and the entry form, the entry form is considered final. Please ensure all information is clear and legible. 

Hanging Hardware for 2D works

All 2D hanging works must be fitted with D-rings for hanging.

  • Use standard “D” shaped rings – see image below, not triangular rings. D-rings can be purchased from art supply or framing stores.

  • D-rings must be securely attached to the frame.

  • No cords or wires should be attached to the D-rings used for exhibition hanging.
    A cord may be attached under the D-rings.

  • The D-rings must be installed between 5cm – 10cm from the top of the frame depending on artwork size and accessible for installation onto gallery hooks.

Works that cannot be safely hung may be refused.

Size and Weight Limits

Size and weight limits apply to entries and may vary depending on the category.

Please refer to the Terms & Conditions for the maximum permitted dimensions and weight before submitting your work.

Delivery and Collection

  • Artists are responsible for delivering and collecting their work within the specified timeframes.

  • If sending work by courier or post, please label your artwork and address to:

  • Please ensure you are available to collect your work at the designated time after the exhibition closes.

  • Storage space is limited, so prompt collection is required.

  • Return postage labels may be included for return of artwork at the conclusion of the exhibition. A postage and handling fee will will need to be paid using Trybooking if return postage is arranged by the organisers.
